Information - Biography
Lucy Griffiths was born October 11, 1987, and was born in Brighton, England. She took dance lessons from an early age and acted in theatre groups before an agent spotted her at the age of sixteen. It was at that age that she persuaded her parents to let her enroll in a private school so she could have a better chance at the business: “I had this idea that if I could get into Cambridge then I could join Footlights. My problem was that I went to a comprehensive in Brighton. I thought I’d have to start from a good school, and the best I could think of was Roedean. I spoke to my parents and they were willing to let me go if I passed the entrance exam, which I did. I started there, but after a week I missed my friends from my old school so much that I just couldn’t stand it any more. I quit and hoped that my agent would come good for me.” Lucy attended Dorothy Stringer School and later went on to study at Varndean College.

She began her career in a number of theatre roles, including two plays, The White Devil and The Man of Mode, directed by The Last King of Scotland’s David Oyelowo. Before playing the feisty Marian on BBC’s Robin Hood, she guest-starred in two television series. She played Rebecca in Sea of Souls and had a brief part as Lettie in Sugar Rush. After winning the role of Marian, she packed up her things and headed to Budapest, Hungary, where the series would be filmed. The first series of the show began in autumn of 2006, on the BBC. She describes Marian: “[She] has been written as an intelligent, witty, biting character, and that’s how I expected her to be.”

Series two of Robin Hood has now finished airing in the U.K. It seems Lucy and the show have parted ways and she will not appear in season 3. She will be seen next in the television drama, U Be Dead, alongside Tara Fitzgerald and David Morrisey.
