Fans call for Maid Marian comeback
January 11, 2008
Disappointed fans of actor Lucy Griffiths who plays Marian in the BBC family drama Robin Hood are clamouring for her to make a return in the third series.
Thousands of viewers watched her dramatic demise in a special one-hour finale when the action switched from Sherwood to the Holy Land.
The former Shine Theatre Group pupil is rumoured to have asked to be killed off to pursue other career options but die-hard fans are mounting a campaign in a bid to persuade her to make a comeback.
On the official Lucy Griffiths website, one fan said: "I am gutted that Marian was killed off in Robin Hood. I have no interest in viewing series 3 now. How can you have a Robin without a Marian? The BBC should be on their knees begging her to come back."
Another Lucy fan, 'Ben', says: "Over the past couple of days people have been posting crazily about Marian's death on Robin Hood, with the majority feeling that a poor decision has been made by the writers."
The 21-year-old from Brighton is a past pupil of Hurstpierpoint-based Shine which she left two years ago.
Lucy's acting credits include Sea of Souls and Sugar Rush. Her stage highlights include Jesus Christ Superstar, Les Miserables and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Lucy, who was a member of Shine from the age of nine, has continued to take a keen interest in Shine Theatre Trust where her mother Patti teaches dance.
She helped to make two major fundraisers a success, making a special appearance at a ball in aid of Shine at the Honorable Artillery Corps in London where she modelled a diamond and sapphire necklace for auction and by recording a special message for the group's Proud to Be 10 gala night at the Corn Exchange in Brighton.
Shaughan Parish, trustee of Shine, said: "Lucy is multi-faceted. She has been always been a good dancer.
"She has always been very confident. Very calm and collected in her demeanour. I suppose she did stand out but she wasn't alone in standing out."few episodes ‘cause he’s wronged
