Synopsis
Robin Hood is a British television series based on the legend of
Robin Hood, the outlaw and folk hero- but with a few modern twists.
The show was created by Dominic Minghella and Foz Allan, who are executive producers, and is produced by the independant production
company Tiger Aspect Productions for the BBC One.
Filming takes place around the town of Fót, near Budapest, Hungary. The first season was first broadcasted
on October 7, 2006, and each episode is around 45 minutes. Filming for the second season began in March, with the expected airdate to
be in October of 2007.
The story begins with Robin back from fighting in the Holy Land after five or six years.
Upon is return, Robin discovers that not only has England been corrupted by the likes of the Sheriff of Nottingham in King Richard’s absence, but that his former betrothed, Marian, is still unmarried. However, she
openly displays her bitterness at him for leaving her behind and, at first, does her best to ward off his charms.
Hiding in the forest with his men, including Will Scarlett, Little John and his faithful servant, Much, Robin takes up the task of stealing from the rich
and giving to the poor- with the Sheriff and Guy of Gisborne constantly
intervening.
During the second season, Robin and his gang of outlaws carry on with their work from Sherwood Forest.
Unfortunately, a decree has it that Sheriff cannot be killed or else Nottingham will be burned. Marian spies on the Sheriff and Guy in the castle and Allan A Dale
betrays the gang and becomes a spy in the forest. The season ends with the outlaws following the Sheriff to the Holy Land
where he unsuccessfully attempts to murder the king. King Richard is safe, but Marian ultimately takes his place.
